چکیده
We provide evidence for the proposition that the computational complexity of individual problems, and of whole complexity classes, hinge on the existence of certain solvable polynomial systems that are unlikely to be encountered other than by systematic explorations for them. We consider a minimalist version of Cook’s 3CNF problem, namely that of monotone planar 3CNF formulae where each variable occurs twice. We show that counting the number of solutions of these modulo 2 is ⊕P-complete (hence NP-hard) but counting them modulo 7 is polynomial time computable (sic). We also show a similar dichtomy for a vertex cover problem. To derive completeness results we use a new holographic technique for proving completeness results in ⊕P for problems that are in P. For example, we can show in this way that ⊕2CNF, the parity problem for 2CNF, is ⊕P-complete. To derive efficient algorithms we use computer algebra systems to find appropriate holographic gates. In order to explore the limits of holographic techniques we define the notion of an elementary matchgrid algorithm to capture a natural but restricted use of them. We show that for the NP-complete general 3CNF problem no such elementary matchgrid algorithm can exist. We observe, however, that it remains open for many natural #Pcomplete problems whether such elementary matchgrid algorithms exist, and for the general CNF problem whether non-elementary matchgrid algorithms exist.

Non-Accidental Poisoning among Children in Rural Sri Lanka: A Two-Year Cross Sectional Study
Background:Non-accidental poisoning in the paediatric age group is uncommon and international literature on this subject is limited. There are no Sri Lankan paediatric studies on non-accidental poisoning to date. The objective of the current study was to explore the predisposing factors and profile of children less than 12 years in rural Sri Lanka who had non-accidental poisoning. Method:This c...

Today due to increasing development and importance of petroleum activities andmarine transport as well as due to the mining of seabed, building activities such as construction of docks, platforms and structures as those in coastal areas and oceans has increased significantly. Concrete strength as one of the most important necessary parameters for designing, depends on many factors such as mixtu...
متن کاملThe Frequency of the Accidental Contamination with Laboratory Samples in Yazd Clinical Laboratories’ personnel in 2011
Abstract Background and Objective: Laboratory personnel have always accidental exposure to clinical samples, which can cause the transmission of infection. This threat can be prevented and controlled by education for the use of safety instruments. The purpose was to determine the frequency of accidental exposure to laboratory samples among Yazd laboratory personnel in 2011. Material and M...
متن کاملComparing three diagnostic algorithms of posttraumatic stress in young children exposed to accidental trauma: an exploratory study
BACKGROUND Both the DSM-5 algorithm for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children 6 years and younger and Scheeringa's alternative PTSD algorithm (PTSD-AA) aim to be more developmentally sensitive for young children than the DSM-IV PTSD algorithm. However, very few studies compared the three algorithms simultaneously. The current study explores diagnostic outcomes of the three algorithms...
متن کاملUsing Genetic Algorithms for Robust Optimization in Financial Applications
In this study, optimal indicators and strategies for foreign exchange trading models are investigated in the framework of genetic algorithms. We rst explain how the relevant quantities of our application can be encoded in "genes" so as to t the requirements of the genetic evolutionary optimization technique. In nancial problems, sharp peaks of high tness are usually not representative of a gene...
متن کاملAccidental acetamiprid poisoning in a buffalo
Acetamiprid is a first generation systemic neonicotinoid insecticide, routinely used for crop protection against sucking type insects. It is likely to be of low toxicity in mammals but severe poisoning may occur if ingested in large amount. A case of buffalo with accidental ingestion of acetamiprid was presented with severe gastrointestinal symptoms and respiratory distress. The patient w...
